The story
Founded in 1940 as the Historical Association of Southern Florida, the museum holds the region's great archive: photographs, artifacts and the beloved 'Tropical Dreams' exhibition tracing 10,000 years of South Florida history.
Its Research Center is the serious student's address for Miami history: the raw material behind many of our Stories.
The vibe
HistoryMiami is quiet revelation: the Tequesta artifacts, the 1920s boom photographs, the exile stories told in first person. It is the museum Miami natives visit and leave saying 'I had no idea.'
