The story in Miami
Brazilian migration to South Florida grew from the 1980s, drawn by business ties, direct flights and the familiar tropical rhythm. The community concentrated in areas like Sunny Isles and North Miami Beach, building restaurants, markets and churches that keep Brazil close.
Brazilian Independence Day (September 7th) is celebrated in Miami with street parties that feel straight out of Rio.
Where the community lives
Sunny Isles Beach, North Miami Beach and Aventura hold strong Brazilian presence, with Brazilian businesses spread across Miami-Dade. Wherever there is a churrascaria with a line out the door, Brazilians are near.
Food, music, traditions
The churrasco, the feijoada on weekends, pão de queijo, açaí. The music: samba, bossa nova, forró, and Brazilian funk at the parties. Carnival season in Miami has a distinctly Brazilian accent.
The vibe
Brazilian Miami is body and joy: beach volleyball, the grill on Sundays, dancing like nobody is watching. It is the community that most visibly lives the tropical life Miami promises, and invites everyone to join.
