Key Biscayne: Crandon Park
Crandon Park, on Key Biscayne, is Miami's great family beach: two miles of calm Atlantic shoreline shaded by palms, with lagoons, picnic areas and some of the clearest shallow water in the county. Locals call it the island's backyard.

The place
Crandon Park occupies the northern end of Key Biscayne, reached over the Rickenbacker Causeway with its famous skyline views. The beach is wide and gently shelving, ideal for kids, with a Bear Cut preserve and fossil-reef areas for the curious.
It is a county park: organized, shaded, and built for the long day.
The vibe
Weekend Miami in full: big family setups, grills going, soccer on the sand, the water full of kids. Quieter on weekdays, when it feels like a private island with a causeway.
The drive over the causeway, bay on both sides, downtown ahead, is half the experience.
What to experience
The beach and picnic areas, the views from the Rickenbacker Causeway, and nearby Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park at the island's tip. Combine with Coconut Grove across the bay.
