Miami Open

Tennis royalty, two weeks in the Miami spring.

The Miami Open is one of the biggest tennis tournaments in the world: a two-week ATP and WTA 1000-level event held each March/April at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. Champions lift trophies here; legends are made on these courts.

We follow it like locals: the Open is Miami's spring ritual, as fixed in the calendar as the weather.

The story

The tournament began in the 1980s and grew into the 'fifth Grand Slam' conversation: the premier hard-court event outside the majors. In 2019 it moved from Key Biscayne's Crandon Park to Hard Rock Stadium, opening a new era with a stadium built for spectacle.

The player list reads like a hall of fame ballot, every year.

The vibe

Two weeks of day-session sun and night-session drama: the stadium court under lights, the outer courts where you can stand meters from future champions, the food and music that make it feel like a festival that happens to have tennis.

Miami shows up for this one: the crowds are knowledgeable, loud, and Latin to the core.

What to experience

The tournament at Hard Rock Stadium (tickets via the official site). The signature events hub has the season; Miami's tech moment shares the spring spotlight with eMerge Americas.
